Getting hungry and craving sweets, but had a little too much sugar lately? Try these chocolate chip energy bites! The main ingredients in these bites, are: oats, dates, nut/seed butter, applesauce, and chocolate! They’re a little bit like cookie dough but have a distinct nutty flavor. I love that they are made with natural ingredients and they’re super easy to make. They’re so simple because all the ingredients are mixed in a mini food processor! These bites are a yummy, easy snack to keep in the fridge all week or prepare a large batch to store in the freezer.

Healthy Chocolate Chip Bites (vegan, gluten and refined sugar free, nut-free option)
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup unsweetened, natural nut butter of choice sunflower seed butter if you're nut-free
- ½ cup roughly chopped dates packed
- ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
- pinch of salt
- ½ tsp vanilla extract optional
- 1 cup oat flour
- ⅓ cup mini dark chocolate chips dairy-free if needed
Optional Chocolate Drizzle:
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips dairy-free if needed
- 1 tsp coconut oil
Instructions
- Add the nut/seed butter, dates, applesauce, salt, and vanilla to a mini food processor and blend until smooth. Add the oat flour and blend until well combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Scoop little balls (I used a cookie scoop) onto a plate and refrigerate. Store/eat them like this or add the chocolate drizzle in the next step.
Optional Chocolate Drizzle:
- Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave, heating 20 seconds at a time and mixing well in between each interval. Remove the bites from the fridge. Method 1: Dunk a spoon in the chocolate and drizzle it onto the bites. Method 2: Pour the melted chocolate into a small ziplock snack bag and seal it shut. Snip a tiny bit off one of the tips of the bag with scissors and drizzle the chocolate onto the bites. Place back in the fridge until you are ready to eat. Enjoy!
